Rebecca Larson

Rebecca was born in Mesa, Arizona and raised in Yuma, Arizona.  She moved to Southern California in 2005 to attend Hope International University.  She planned on getting her B.A. in youth ministry, but over the course of her freshman year and an internship in at Central Christian Church San Jose (in the student ministries department), God shaped her heart into something more specific than youth ministry.  It was here that Rebecca felt a call to work with girls who have been sexually abused.  She changed her major to social work and will receive her B.A. in this field in December of 2008.

After completing college, Rebecca plans to work in the social work field until she has all the resources needed to fulfill her dream of opening a center for sexually abused girls.  She is passionate about helping those who are lost and hurting.  The outcasts and those who have been the victims on injustice are always heavily weighing on her heart.  Because of this, CityServe's Compassion Network is a perfect fit for Rebecca.  Working one on one, on a daily basis, with people who are in need is exactly where Rebecca's heart is.

In July of 2008, Rebecca married her husband, Gavin Larson.  Gavin is the family pastor/youth pastor at Mission Springs Community Church in Fremont, CA.  This provides Rebecca with an opportunity to minister within the church and use her skills acquired while studying to be a youth pastor.

Rebecca's mission statement for life is, "I desire to have a deep, committed and faithful personal relationship with my God, I desire to live a life of worship (through my thoughts, words, actions, etc.) and I desire to minister effectively to those around me."
